2 Donor diff questions

Here is my freshly removed diff.

Questions....
1) I presume I dont need that bracket (top right of pic), how do you remove it? It has 2 bolts at the back, but no room to get any socket to the lower bolt head?

Heres a pic of the 2 bolts holding the bracket on.

2) What the best way to clean it, without getting dirt/water inside? I've got a couple of carrier bags stuffed in the holes.

I've got loads of other questions about my other donor parts, but will post them later, don't want to swamp anybody!!

Keith.

You dont need the bracket and you are gonna need either a long socket or extention arm but those bolts are the only way off. I just put a couple of rubber gloves over the drive shaft holes and got to work with the degreaser and a stiff brush (toothbrush probably). It looks like you gonna have to clean the driveshaft holes as well though

I too just blocked up driveshaft holes with some latex gloves. I used white spirits and a brush to get the greasy stuff off and the a drill mounted wire brush to clean off the dry crap. Once clean a quick paint with smoothrite and it looks gr8.

Using latex gloves to block the holes is a good idea. Or I could just push the drive shafts back in, then get to work with a brush and gunk. Thanks.
