ID a honda engine please
16v205 - 10/7/19 at 08:06 AM

Hello,

I'm looking for a little bit of help please,

I have a bec locost, picked it up last year on a whim.

The next thing on the fix list is the clutch, its slipping beyond the point of being useful now and I would like to replace it but i'm struggling to actually ID my engine.

I know its a Honda, it says 998cc on the side and it runs carbs which I guess were standard to this engine? It has a 5 speed gearbox and that's about all I can see. I have tried to find a engine number but cant, I have had a endoscope in between the exhaust manifold and around the oil filter but just can no find a plate of stamp on the engine.

Has any one got a idea what this engine may be please? I have had a google and it looks like a cb1000f engine but even then the clutch has revisions over the years.

I have added a picture of the car as well just in case anyone recognises it

Cheers
Rich

No pic! & a pic of the engine would be more use than one of the car

I didn't expect such a quick response, you caught me before I had actually uploaded the pics

looks like an engine from a CBR1000F to me.

what does the v5 reg document say for the engine no?

Good idea, i'll double check the logbook when I get home tonight, but from what I can remember the engine capacity is listed as 1100cc on the logbook so it may have been a previous engine or a wrong assumption of engine capacity when the v5 was updated by a previous owner.

Looks very much like a CBR1000F to me as well, and the 998cc matches up with that engine.

I have a rotrex Blackbird for sale shortly. If you’re thinking about swapping it. Needs the head off for 2 plug wurth inserts.

I'm 98% sure that's a CBR1000F too :-)
