WANTED: Zetec Hose Parts
J90rdn - 18/6/20 at 01:17 PM

Hi

I'm after any parts that will help me with my cooling setup. I have a polo rad and an expansion tank. I've after the following parts;

Pipework between standard thermostat housing (34mm) and rad top inlet (32mm)

Pipework between bottom of rad (32mm) and water pump (approx 35mm), with a 19mm and 21mm take off

Alternatively any suggestions to parts that might help??

This is for a Tiger Avon with Zetec Blacktop.

Thanks

I used flexi hoses for rad connections and then 32mm Henry hoover tube and a couple of bends to link back to the thermostat housing.

Surely as its kit everything will be made up of off the shelf universal parts?

Yes, plus a bit of domestic copper plumbing in my case. 22mm / 15mm copper pipe and reduction T's do the job

Unfortunately it's not a standard build. I've moved the engine 3 inches back towards the bulkhead, and I'm not using the Tiger radiator so I've got a polo rad and made up the supporting brackets.

Not sure such a thing exists.

Loggyboy said 'off the shelf Universal parts', not Tiger Avon specific parts.

In other words a mix and match of what you can easily buy

Ah right, get what you mean ;-)

Yeah, I'm desperately trying to research, but certain parts seem to be illusive. For example, I come off the bottom of the rad and need to go into the water pump, but before I do I need to T piece out to 21mm for the bottom of the thermostat housing, and 19mm for the bottom of my expansion tank. Trying to find something like that is proving challenging.

Try here:

Ebay can be good as well.

I used a mondeo bottom hose which has the reducer and a single T. From that copper pipe, 15mm, and if you use "yorkshire" solder rings, they give an idea bump for fitting 16mm hose to, absolutely perfect. Copper pipe and T's as required, and if needed a reducer, got mine off ebay. Used off the shelf hose bends, mainly silicone.

Having just done mine I think the price of silicone has rocketed.

I did a shopping list for my black top zetez setup before I sold the unfinished car:

32mm silicone 90deg bend out of rad bottom H1
32mm alloy 90deg bend (both of these were to suit clash with chassis on striker so you may not need these) B1
32mm silicone hose to link to H5
32mm alloy tee , 2x32mm 1 x 25mm. Jt1
32mm/35mm silicone reducer 90deg bend to water pump. H4
25mm silicone hose out of Jt1 to
25mm alloy joiner tee Jt2 (2x25 1x 19mm)
25mm silicone hose to header tank (custom) H7
20mm silicone hose Jt2 to Thermostat H8
20mm silicone hose Thermo to Header. H8
8mm Silicone Thermo breather to Header. H9
32mm Silicone Thermo to: H5
32mm alloy 90deg bend to: B2
32mm silicone hose to Rad top. H5

All could be brought from various ebay outlets and totaled about £80-£120 depending on silicone brand.

Thanks loggyboy - fairly comprehensive reply and shopping list. I too have a chassis rail to contend with, but at the top rad hose.

Spoke to Tiger yesterday, to enquire about their bottom outlet hose which used to have 2 take off's (for the thermostat bypass and header tank). Interestingly, they no longer make the part, mainly because they now blank off the thermostat bypass outlet on the thermostat housing (the 21mm outlet). I also assume they remove the thermostat. Although it would then take slightly longer for the car to get up to temperature, this would make the job a little easier.

Has anyone done this??

Mine is a pure track car, so always gets at least 10 mins idle getting up to temperature before being taken on track.
