Sierra rear drums (1.3) are they backplates handed?

Surprised as I've been building up my rear drum brakes from 1.3 Sierra. I expected to have a left and right backplates. What I've got is two identical plates. This means the handbrake goes to the rear of the car nearside and towards the front off side.

This doesn't seem right, is it?

Does anyone know of back plates from other asked will fit (I have escort 9"and Capri 9".)

I’ve redone the post as I was talking bol***s
The brake shoes are symmetrical and work in either side. I think the back plates are the same and you can swap them but the handbrake cable does not go in from the rear, they both go in the front.

I've replaced my shoes recently, it's hard to tell with it all reassembled but they may be symmetrical, the brake cable goes in from the front and there is a funny push button 'adjuster' that fits into what could be the symmetrical hole at the rear if that makes sense?

So if both sides have the cable going into the back plate from the front. They must have a left and right back plate. The fact I've got one from the front and one from the rear means I've got an odd set

(FFS)

I've had these parts for a good 15 years.

I tried to explain that the plate has two symmetrical looking holes, the cable goes into the forward one and press button thing goes into the rear one. Can you post a picture of what you have?

I normally get to go in the garage late in the evening, and have a cider whilst there.

Your absolutely right and everything is fine 🙂
