ZZR1100, any difference between c and d

chaps

Do the c and d variants have the same engine mounting points as each other? Actually, more specifically, do I have to be careful to buy a specific model to match the one I blew up in my Radical the other day, or do they all fit th same?

Cheers

The output sprockets are different - one has a dish and the other is flat.
Can't remember which was which but I think the 'C' was dished.

The flat sprockets are easier to find in different sizes.

Other than that the two units should bolt-in just the same.

One other thing to consider is to fit the extra cam cover drain, that Radical fitted, to your new engine.
The ZZR1100 tends to keep too much oil at the top of the engine which leads to oil starvation and subsequent bearing failure with the inevitable ventilated crankcase!

Yep, I'm guessing that is exactly what has happened, hole in block... Not happy....

Thanks for the info...

Just on the sprockets, do they end up in the same plane, so I won't need to re align to get the chain straight?

Do you know f there would be any reason to think that the dry sump system will not be interchangeable too?

Thanks

I think the two sprockets would end up in the same plane when used on their respective engines.

They are just not interchangeable with each other.

Have you got the Muzzys type dry sump? (uses original ZZR oil pump)

Thanks for the confirmation on the sprockets...

I'm afraid I'm not sure what dry sump system is fitted. Do you believe sumps are interchangeable? Assuming they are, then the dry sump should be OK to interchange too.

As for the gears, I can easily get whatever sprocket I want made up by the excellent JB Gears in N Yorkshire.....

Sumps, engine mounts headers etc all the same.

Output shaft is not, the c is 30mm shorter than the d model. This caught me out and I had to make a spacer.

It's not a dishes sprocket - the output shaft its self is shorter
