Public Liability Insurance at Shows

Hi,

I heard of talk that PLI is needed if you are attending a show with your car.

Is this just for trades / exhibitors ?? or any one from Joe Public who is showing are car.

The show organiser would need PLI but not individuals visitors (even if their cars were displayed) I'd have thought.

Where have you heard this?

Public liability is usually covered by the show organisers
However major clubs that put on shows, attend smaller shows or display with gazebos, club signs or club barbecues etc may need to address this risk
The Essex Kit Car club spends a good proportion of its meagre income on liability insurance however individuals will be covered on their car insurance third party liability

This subject was discussed when i was a WSCC Area organiser and the jist was the WSCC had liability insurance for its club meetings/displays etc to cover the members.
There's always a concern that exposed hot exhausts on 7's in car parks etc with kids looking at the cars could potentially lead to issues.
Sadly we now live in a 'no win no fee' society

To be honest, exposed hot exhausts are a problem all the time. Surprised if shielding isn't a requirement on IVA?

You will naturally have 3rd party liability insurance on your normal insurance but often that's specifically NOT at shows and meets/races etc.
