Hi, I am after some advise as to if I should scrap the donor car as a car or remove identification and scrap as a lump of metal? I am using engine out of it and that's about it so not enough to use its identification. What papers will I need for the IVA, will a photo copy of the V5 be sufficient for engine identification?

Cut the id off and weigh in the scrap, keep the log book as you will have to send it to DVLA when you register the vehicle, unless you want a Q plate. I am sure you will find you will use more major components from that car - !!

I pretty sure I will end up with Q plate as the donor is a Focus so other than steering column, engine and rear brakes if I can then that still wouldn't be enough to register. Am I best to scrap and keep documents? Even with a Q plate do I need to keep the log book to prove the age of the engine for emissions on IVA?

You only need 2 major components from donor.
The dvla have limited knowledge of the workings of cars so whilst you should use column and rack to add up as the full steering mechanism, its unlikely to be noticed. Brakes dont count as major component so ignore them.
