Miata uprights etc?

After building a few VW's and a Porsche I figured it was time to do it properly and start from scratch.
My aim is to base my project on the Book chassis with irs rear. Since I'm in Sweden the power plant will
be a Volvo five cylinder NA engine. The body wont be a traditional seven look but instead a little more hotrod influenced.

I'm still undecided on weather to use the Sierra front uprights and book rear uprights or
if I should go for a Miata front and rear setup. Cheap Miatas doesnt exist over here and the breakers yards think old uprights are carved from gold.
Any tips on where to source Mx5 parts in the UK would be very appreciated.

If you use Miata front uprights, do you also use the Miata steering gear? What do you do about the power steering? Or can I use an Escort rack and just make an adapter for the tie rods?

Remember Uk is RHD, is quite rare to find LHD escort parts.

I used Sierra parts, really easy to find, and cheap!

Yeah I was going to go for a new LHD steering gear from Rally design or similar.

what gearbox are you going to use? the 960 M90 will fit but its as rare as hens teeth in the uk? Not sure about Sweden. Adaptor plate?

I think the MX5 parts are much nicer to use on a lightweight car than the chunkier sierra stuff.

Lightweight car won't require power steering but you will require some kind of adaptor to go from the rack to the miata track rod ends.

960 M90's are rare in Sweden too but I got one sitting in my garage since last weekend.
Yes machining stuff and such is easy as we've got plenty of machines where I work. I cant run them myself since I'm an office rat but I can design and make the drawings for anything needed.

That's good I have an 960 m90 too for my T6 into 240 swap.
I was lucky and found myself in the right place at the right time.

Good luck with the project
