IVA and front calipers
L5W - 6/6/09 at 11:15 PM

Hi,

When I collected my kit, MK said the standard sierra front caliper would no longer pass IVA since part of the caliper itself protruded outside the profile of the wheel.

Is there an alternative caliper that can be used to ovecome this?

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee, I may be wrong, but cant see that the Sierra one wouldn't comply as it doesn't stick out as far as the mudgaurd bracket. Think you may have been given some duff advice. I would be inclined to go to your local IVA centre and get the word from there. Cheers Ray

iva manual says any wheel nuts/studs, hub caps etc must be blunted, but otherwise sounds like nonsense to me! link below for the IVA manual, i can't find anything in there that says any calipers won't pass

Not that familiar with either an MK or Sierra stuff, but if the inspector cannot get his 100mm ball to the caliper he can't fail it. However if he can then it must conform to minimum radii.

Are you sure it was MK and not Mr Wilwood who told yo this

Sounds bolloc*s

Wrap it in rubber

Sounds rubbish to me, also depends on the width and offset of your wheels !!!

I was told the same thing about calipers when i spoke to phil at mk , he also said there will be no exclusion zone on the dash (i.e) behind the steering wheel.

Then he's talking rubbish!

It really isn't hard to read the manual, it's freely available from the VOSA website, so I don't understand why these false rumours keep going round.

Just confirming that the old SVA exclusion zone remains in the IVA manual, same 127mm I believe. As far as I can see the brake calipers are just the same as any other piece of metal at the front of the car and need radiusing.

Anyone got a copy of the hub image without creating an account?
