Is there some cunning plot by Google/Facebook etc to give preferential and faster response to their favoured browser. I recently downloaded Chrome and
seems very fast. Google searches seem to give instant download of results. Using Firefox searches on Google it still says 3 million results in .34
seconds but takes 10 seconds to show the first page of results. Daughter noticed facebook was very slow on firefox but instant on chrome.
Can they do this, give preference to their own browser?
no its down to the way the programs display the webpages.
Google chrome is the fastest browser. It just handles the information it recieves much more efficiently and renders the page noticabley quicker.
I use Firefox and its faster than IE both at home and here at work...
Another vote for chrome. I didn't like the 'feel' at first, but now i wouldn't go back.
I use safari - much better than anything else I have used
Some Firefox addons can slow things down a lot.

Also for linux users there is an optimised faster version of Firefox called SwitftFox
Chrome is quick but I personally don't like the way it renders web-pages. It's very picky and whenever I'm compatability testing the website I'm building and there's a problem it's with blooming chrome....

I gave up on all of the IE alternatives (never tried Safari, but I find Apple software generally to be terrible).
Only IE works properly.
Personally I just use firefox or firefox portable. I've got the others installed on my desktop but only for compatibility testing...

I'm a chrome user now! Very good indeed!
Tried all of them.. I use firefox both in winblows and in Mac. Safari I've found has lots of compatibility issues for some reason. Chrome just
feels.. weird.
I.e. works well for what it's worth but is extremely prone to catching more random diseases than a cheap hooker.
firefox every time
I picked up the Chrome habit at work primarily because it starts up so fast. I could open it up, check something out and shut it down in the time Firefox took to get started. FF is very useful in my job (software dev) though for the plugins to play with data before it gets posted back to the server.
I use opera.
Chrome is nice, and i use it for natwest which has an epi-fit on opera, but its very resource heavy if you have more than a handfull of tabs open.

be warned about Chrome and firefox, they send lots of info about your browser habbits and machine info.. ip address ,location ..and a lot more.
the reason chrome is "currently" faster is because it caches a lot of info using the google servers.. same as AOL used to do
firefox also uses the part of the google system.
Personally i use opera and IE... personally i do not have any problems with IE

My brother claims to still be using Netscape, and despite the support ending a few years ago it still runs really well. So he says... I use firefox and yeah it's not amazing but then neither's my laptop...
