with your 4age engine what was the mileage when you got it and what was its condition???

that plastic cover over the spark plug valley (between cam covers)....... is that important???

i ask because i went to see about buying an mr2 the other day and it didnt have one.....

cheers..

160K miles...runs well, good compression, but will rebuild later.

The cover supports the plug leads I think...not much other purpose really...
I think mine was sheet metal actually...dead easy to make if you wanted...

Hmmm...don't know off hand.

I'll post back here when I know.

Unless anyone else wants to jump in

Not too sure about this but isn't that the job of the exhaust gas sensor?

Knock sensor is there to detect pre-ignition aka pinking or knock and will be on the block somewhere. Exhaust gas sensor detects the oxygen level in the exhaust and allows the ECU to adjust the air/fuel mixture

it looks like a temp or oil pressure sendershould have 2 wires on it near the top of the cyl block,to check if its working let the engine tick over and tap rapidly near it with a small hammer, the revs should go down if its working
