I will be in the same situation soon, still didnt do any research.

What if you wrap the exhaust including the O2 sensor?

I wrapped mine in exhaust heat shield and had no issues with IVA

Wrap it, IVA is only bothered with edges/radiuses. Not the 600degree exposed 5ft chunk of metal.

hmm why is the lambda sticking up like that?? would it not be better to move the fitting nut a couple of inches back and have it horizontally towards the car?

Is has to be in or just after the collector.

OK, how about just having it horizontally towards the car but still in the collector? Or on the corner, or even pointing downwards? Up just seems 'odd'.

I also believe that having it vertical and pointing down into the exhaust as the OP has done also gives it a longer life. Something to do with condensation draining away from it when the car is cooling down after use.

That's not to say you can't do it any other way just it might not last so long. I think this is how Caterham fit them now (into the Cat) although they used to do it as per the OP at one point.

Ok thanks everyone for the replies I think if I'm still using the same manifold could I cover it with something like this
