miata upright upper ball joint taper
airframefixer - 18/9/06 at 01:30 AM

hey guys, im building a locost using miata front and rear uprights. the stock miata uses a ball joint pressed into the upper-a arm. i would like to use the configuration as descibed in "the book" by using a tie rod end with a male thread that can used to make camber adjustments.

does anyone know the upper ball joint taper used in the front of a miata
or know of an existing tie rod end that will fit.

btw DOT has banned the use of spherical bearings/rod ends in suspension components were i live, so ive heard.

I hear that the Moog E323S tie rod end has the same taper. It is a bit short though, so may be difficult to engage enough threads for comfort when tightening it up on the upright.

Best thing to do is to find out what Westfield are using on their new Miata based car....

MK engineering were kind enough to let me whack their taper reamer through my mx5 upper fronts - so I used the transit drag link c.f. book
