Mango, please excuse me for jumping on your wanted thread.
Can somebody please explain why these clam-shells are suddenly so sought after ? Do they help a 7 pass IVA, by making some suspension parts
in-accessible to the testers "ball" or such ?
My Westfield came with a set fitted and I have removed them to make it easier to work around. However I have some photographs of vintage(?) racing 7s
with them fitted, and some of them look amazing. I will find an example to post.
Regards
Jon
Clam shells were required for North American importation for MK 1 and 2 Lotus 7's. they were later incorporated by Lotus for all street 7's
for protection from flying objects from the front wheels at a cost in top speed.
Some people prefer them for the classic car look (MG TC).
My mate has the west ones but I'm looking for the round type rather than the ones with the square edge.
History lesson early ones were like cats then Westfield got sued and had to make their product look different hence the ridge
Im looking at the traditional ones thanks
