Duratec exhaust manifold & EGR blanking

I have just bought an exhaust manifold plate and have always wondered why it does not fully seal No.4 port from the EGR tract.
I know that an EGR blanking plate on the rear of the head will stop flow to the inlet manifold but I’m still curious about any negative effect of the void in the head by port No.4

I've seen racers with big power engines turn up a spacer to block the path from port 4 to the egr gallery but they didn't seem to think it really made any difference!

My thoughts as well plus the gasket won’t cover the blacking piece possibly generating a hot spot.
If I did it I wold probably weld the head with an ally plug then have the port cut to fit but that’s a lot of work for no gain

I recently bought a new gasket from SBD motorsports, theirs fully covers that cutout in the head.
