Rack Mounts?

Hi, looking at the 'book' plan for mounts - what issues should i be aware of?

Are they strong enough?
Are they in the right place?
etc...

Building a 'book' chassis - escort rack with cortina uprights... (very slowly!)

Much thanks in advance!

Needs a diagonal brace to stop them falling over, think about the left/right loading and it is trying to twist off the base.

Also have a search for bump steer, lots in this but very simply tack in place, dummy assemble the bones and hubs then position through trial and error.

thanks for your reply Mark - just mocking up the placement of the rack - reading around 'bump steer' issues, i can't get the rack straight in the horizontal as i increased the backwards slope of the front chassis uprights to get a decent caster angle...

has anyone else had this issue? will this be ok in practice?

all help gratefully received

I found the book mount angles and position to be fine. I beefed them up a bit by using 40x4 mild steel bar as 3mm seemed a bit flimsy. Did consider an additional diagonal on the rear elevation but doesn't look like it needs it.

My 'Ackerman Eye' says your fore and aft positioning looks pretty good!
