They do some nice cars but that snakeskin was horrid. They turned nice wheels into mingers

Yes they done an xr2 and a porsche 993 before the rx7.

On the whole I like wheeler dealers and what they do - but for me the RX7 wasn't a good starting point and it just got worse

Yep agreed with the above, I think it was a shame as they took a good car and actually made it worse yet they seemed to think it was worth more by
adding decals!
I did like the explanation and the cross section of a wankel engine found that interesting

They basically 'did it up' for the lad they bought it off I reckon, he seemed happy enough TBH

Mike said on twitter, they did it to show what can be done. It's not to everyone's taste, but some aren't aware of what can be
achieved (the dipping process etc).
He also said, all the stickers can be removed so the wheels would just need a re-furb.

Yep. Fab car, but very interesting colour choice.
A lot of these cars are done for "pre-selected" customers. The same happens with some classic car re-builds, and kit car builds in our
dearly beloved motoring press.
Don't believe everything you read - now where have I heard that before?

I enjoy the series and it's certainly a lot better made and a lot more real and informative than any of the pretend DIY shows.
My one gripe is they rarely seem to make any serious money out of it and sometimes barely break even. This would be fine if the series were called
Hobby Dealers but gives an unrealistic representation of the motor trade. There seems a deliberate choice to avoid a business plan or commercial
thinking, not sure if this is the choice of the presenters or something dictated by the programme producers for fear their kids might watch it and one
day grow up to be car dealers.
Anyone who does this even in am amateur way chooses their cars carefully, knows their likely sale price and wouldnt jump in unless there is enough
potential price difference to cover parts, any specialist labour, a proper return for their own time plus a level of profit.
Wrapping cars in strange stuff severely limiting the market wouldnt happen, spending ages cutting out and replacing the rear valance on a van thats
entirely hidden by the rear bumper and not an MOT failure wouldnt happen. Buying a replacement interior then realising it needed to be taken apart
and restitched rather than making the buyer take it back, none of this would happen in real life so it's not clear whay this is thought to make
better TV.
