It had the makings of a good show but in my humble opinion, it failed.
Glenister has absolutely no knowledge of cars and it showed! Showing the Escorts being driven on the roads by morons did nothing but fuel the image that car enthusiasts are all irresponsible pillocks. Meeting "at an under-ground meeting after dark" turned-out to be the monthy pub meet......

I enjoyed it, was a lot more interesting than the car resto shows that have fake haggling over price and fake mishaps setting the build back. It helped that the show featured a great car for it's opener.
It did come over a bit London wide boy heavy but I can live with that, should not be just as bad in future episodes.

Totally agree, had the makings of a good show but a bit "hollow" but I liked it, but why is it every car show has to have a scene with cars doing donuts and smoking tyres. It those tossers from Top Gear to blame. Look forward to the series over the coming weeks though it may get better, its worth it just to see those beautiful cars. How I wish I had the money to own a Escort and also a Mini, oh well back to the old MK Indyblade.

Yeah I quite enjoyed it too. PG is a bit strange, sometimes he comes across as confident but other times he seems a bit out of his depth. His mechanic seems to know his stuff even if he was the "cleanest" mechanic I think I have ever seen. I wish I could stay that clean when welding, grinding and doing general mechanical stuff.

I don't expect to learn much from the program but my wife and I enjoyed just seeing some nice looking cars and a bit of light banter. In fact she even said that she'd quite like a MK1 Escort like the one on the show which was a bit of a surprise to be honest as she doesn't normally show that much interest in specific cars. That said, she said she would have gone nuts if I had come home with that basket case having spent £8k on it!! I don't blame her tbh...

Agreed. Nor could he drive so I'm not quite sure what he brings to it.
Good concept, but needs to improve a bit, didn't see much real life dirty ness happening either

Had to laugh when when he opened the bonnet just before it left the workshop to show the finished article and there was no top hose attached to the thermostat housing then they supposedly drove off in it . Nice cars poor programme.

PG has a very tenuous link through ashes to ashes, fire up the quatro! Don't think there's any other reason.

He comes over as a proper bloke, but without the typical anaorak or inane car "enthusiast" bit. Seems interested in the cars, and that is refreshing.
Good programme, quite light on technical stuff (that is boring to most people, but sort of explained that you need a lot of skill to build a car) but enjoyed the history side.
Remember, it is light entertainment chaps.

I watched a bit of it till he was driving the Escort rally car and then I got fed up. Why do they put idiots on to present the programme, I want a roll bar and stripes and rally seats

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Describing the Mexico as the top dog Escort had me wondering what happened to the RS1600.
Then all the nonsense about fitting a "roll bar" etc.

It was certainly worth watching, but for blokes like 'us' you really do not to leave your brain at the door unless you don't want to bore yourself and your family to death with correcting the telly.

I'll be watching.

I actually thought it was good, as said above, if it gets too technical unfortunately a lot of people wont watch it.

Brings a refreshing change on my tv when generally its either eastenders, holby or cartoon network.

Take it for what it is & it definately beats that crap with bernie & leepu in it !

Mind you, I also like topgear so probably not a good judge really but its easy watching & theres cars in it :-)
