The thing I don't get is what the government expect to do about it. Sure they can increase gun laws, but this was a lorry. Are they going to increase lorry laws?

(Yes I know it was full of guns and grenades, but the truck was the weapon here)

Truck could have been filled with all sorts of material that could've made it a lot worse.
The truck was the weapon. Weaponised 'normal' transportation looks impossible to control, trucks go everywhere....

I disagree. People like to herd in groups and will find a common view to unite them, be it religion, race, political views, nationality, sexual oreientation, football team supported, and a minority will go out to attack and even kill others who do not have the same view.

Very sad for it to happen again in france.... and sadder still that there is no indication or reason for it to end.

May the bastards resposible burn in hell.

What needs to be realised is while it is good to help people, importing them into other countries means importing their way of life. Do we want their way of life in our country? Are we prepared to give up all we know and love and be like them? Just look at their towns and cities, is that what we want? I am neither political or religious, they are 2 arguments that never have an answer. I do have eyes though and can see this is situation just getting worse.

I agree on the large crowds thing, to a point. My fear is that (heaven forbid) when (if) something happens in a strategic confined space, things like urban transport systems, Channel tunnels, ferries, that sort of thing...

It’ll only end when the oil runs out or an alternative fuel technology actually takes over then the middle east will descend into utter insignificance and poverty and not pester anyone else. That could take a very long time really.

It’s certainly a good breading ground for a Hitler Mk2 to rise up to huge support and then wage religious war against Islam, start WW3 and the next human horror show…oh what a lovey planet this isn't

It's a sad sad world. And yet tomorrow 99.99% of the population will have forgotten. What makes this kind of thing so more tragic is the fact they change absolutely nothing apart for the innocent victims and their families. We're all globally irrelevant yet to our nearest and dearest we're everything. There is no heaven or hell, the only people who go to hell are the relatives of those killed who get to live in one That bloke has just ruined the lives of hundreds, including his own family.

Ending up in a religious based WW3 is exactly what these nutters want. So we end up doing nothing because there isn't another option.

The sad thing is one of the main victims from these incidents is the vast majority of normal Muslims who people end up fearing / blaming. Demonizing these people only encourages further radicalization.

Yes the whole object of outrages like this is increased xenophobia in the general population to the point where patience is exhausted and a full scale war breaks out, ruthless sadists with perverted view of religion and humanity are exploiting the weak minded amongst their own kind to kill and spread hatred. By attacking tourist destinations IS has learned from the IRA in when at the height of the troubles they attacked public transport to prevent ordinary people from both sides of the religious mixing and hence deepening the devide.

The US, ourserlves and our fellow European allies are adopting the only tactic availble by attempting to take out the leadership of IS. The signs are this is hurting them badly hence the recent attacks in Europe but xenophobia and right wing extremism is sweeping the western world and if Trump gets int the Whitehouse and the USA gets attacked it would not surprise me if it the conflict goes Nuclear.

I'll say that the alternative to Trump isn't that much better, that Clinton thing.

Her appraisal of their (our) foreign policy in Libya was marvellous... "we came, we saw, he died"

Bliar and all of them... past and present.

I recently finished the story of Rama by Arthur C Clark and it really did sum up how dreadful humanity is, though their solution to xenophobia was quite amusing.

Watch the move "Look Who's Back." It's very well done and is about this. At first it seems like a goofy comedy, then... not so much. Quite chilling actually.

If you listen to Christian radio in the U.S. they're all about "this is really terrible and is another sign of the End Times - and why you should like our god." Far from being a solution, they seem to welcome it.

Watch the "Freedumb" show by Jeff Jefferies. He mentions how Trump's approach of hating them harder than they hate us is only going to make things worse.
