Zetec Sump Size

Hi Guys,

Don't have my engine block back to measure.
But talking to Neil Dunne about a short sump etc.
From CAD, but can not 100 % confirm, the bottom of the block to the bottom of my chassis measures about 26mm (block above bottom of chassis.
He says he does 160mm ones and a done a couple of 140mm ones.
Anyone know what they have used on a silver top?

Cheers guys

Silvertop, blacktop makes no difference.

150~160 is the norm. Go less and the gearbox is the lowest point and you will have little capacity.

The raceline sump is the zetec gold standard and is around 160mm.
I had a Scholar Engines sump and it was around the same.
I did a couple of cut and shuts at 150 ish mm and they only have a capacity of 3.3 L

I have emailed him saying 160mm is the way to go. Whats the capacity of 160mm? Also, where is the oil line normally, so i can sort a distinct out.

Cheers!!!!

The oil level is still gauged by your dipstick. So what was full before is still full now give or take as the engine was tilted back in most donors.
The volume varies on the manufacturer.

i have a Dunnell sump and is around 4.5L capacity and usues a standard dipstick. Never had a issue with surge etc. If i was buying new i would most likely go for a Raceline sump as they look a lot better. My one is a standard modified item, but got it 2nd hand at a reasonable cost.

I have a cut and shut sump and it's spot on. No need to spend all that big money.
