Handbrake Cable Touches Oil Filter - IVA Fail?

Finally have an IVA booked so nervously looking over a few bits on the car.

One of my handbrake cables sits under and touches the oil filter.

Does anyone know if thats an IVA fail and if so would putting some extra shielding over the top help?

I cant re-route it around the filter without ordering a longer cable.

Will come down to interpretation -

A parking brake lever, actuating linkage, cable or associated component must not be obstructed in its travel nor foul parts of the vehicle

If its just brushing it then shouldnt be be a problem, but if its pushing against then it could be easily argued the cable and the filter could prematurely wear.

I would think....

The concern with it touching things is vibration / friction / heat / damage.
If the oil filter doesn't move or stretch it, won't rub on it, won't pinch it against something, won't get too hot, then you should be fine.

But if you can put something around it as a cover/shield or a p-clip to hold it slightly away that would be extra assurance.

Don't know if there's a specific wording, but that would make sense to me.

Good luck!

It is only the cable outer that touches the filter and only lightly brushes it.

Best I could do without replacing it for a longer cable would be to put some sort of sheathing over it and cable tie it on.

Hmm, thats a good point, I'll take a look.

Its a Duratec and there is an alternate filter body that points the filter out horizontally but I have the oil cooler circuit from the ST150 so I want to keep that.

Bingo, looks like Burton Power do a short one for the Duratec...
