Any thing good for a drive out this weekend NW Eng?

So good weather for the weekend and I fancy getting out in the car.

Anyone know of a something worth driving to, places to visit, take pictures etc?

Any ideas I can try or store in the grey mater for a another time.

Adrian

Probably a bit too far for you but there is a big Westfield club meet/show on Saturday at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb in the midlands

It has to be the Lake District, though I'm biased as I live nearby!

Book yourself into a B&B and work out a nice circular route, stunning drives and views, it really is something not to be missed

There's a local car club that have an informal coffee and cars meet up, first Saturday in the month at the coffee shop next to the Lakeland Motor Museum, being the other end of the county, I've only been the once, but thoroughly enjoyed it

My drives are typically seven hours in the seat, I do a lot of the lakes, all at my own pace.

From home up the M6 off at 36 across to bottom end of Windermere up over Kirkstone pass, allong Ulswater and to Penrith.

From there I used to end up at Hartside cafe, (now gone) and down the other side Alston - Middleton In Teasdale - Brough -
Kirkby Stephen - Sedbergh - Kirkby Lonsdale - Bentham - Forrest of Bowland - Slaidburn - Clitheroe and home.

Several stops for ice cream, grub and coffee as I needed it.

A few week ago I did a drive to a campsite Kinross south of Perth (Scotland, had a drive around the area cost from Perth to Dalgety bay before another night of camp and head back home, it was bad weather that cut me short.

Done John O groats twice now, tried Lands End but got rained off so headed Bournemouth and Brighton areas before heading back the previous year of so.

One of these years I will go ferry to port in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Denmark up the coast and back, but think I may need support on that.

Hi Adrian, hope you’re well? I know you don’t do Facebook but joining the group called NWKCOG on there would be positive, constantly organising runs out, shows etc

They are doing a section of a relay running from lands end to john a groats various clubs doing sections, NWKCOG are doing one from sandbach

Oh and I’m booking IVA next mth so I’ll soon be available for blats

Live tracking here

There should be many runners using the Kitnet/CKC track name as it is a relay.

Chris: I am on facebook but for some reason do not really understand how to use or get it!

So I do a search for what you suggested as a group and got this:
Description
Description

When I opened the search to all I got a post from Motoring NorthWest about an off road fiat and a post from Kitcarcollection mentioning nwkog from April.

So no group page no joining page etc. So as I said I may not know how to use it

By the way what are you building now?

Blats along Motorways are boring as hell, OK to get to an interesting site, but just sit on the M6 from one point to another would not be of interest to me as I like sight seeing.

The PASMA trips where good until it came to the looning at 100 down the A65.

Hi Adrian
It’s Moffat car show tomorrow and Sunday there’s a short run around Sr Mary’s Loch with 901 cars from 12 noon in group s of 30 which when added to the journey up would make pleasant day

We live about 5 miles out of Lakes National Park so have spent a lot of time hooning around the lanes and would suggest that ifvyouvarevheadingvback down from Hartside towards Penrith take a tiny road on rhs which is part of the coast to coast cycle route. Go through Lazonby Kirkoswald then cross the A 6 at Plumpton through to Hutton in the Forest then Greystoke. Mungrisdale then through a Ford to Hesket Newmarket ,Caldbeck ,Fellside ,Clea Hall, Sandale ( big hill with hairpin ) Uldale Robin Hood Bassenthwaite down to Keswick, then Borrowdale, Honister, Buttermere,Lorton, Cocker-mouth then back along A 66

For now I am taking the trip up to Dunbar area Scotland Saturday back home Sunday Evening.

I do not think I have done the Northumberland coast. So just finished getting a few things charged and ready.

Well I enjoyed my road trip over the weekend in total did 482 miles and managed to get back at 10pm last night.
Stayed at a campsite near Lauder and visited some of the harbours and cover around the NE section of the area namely Berwick, Eyemouth, Cove and Dunbar.

Think I must be into coastal stuff and boats.

My comfort breaks seem to be getting more regular as I get older, something about not being able to pass a toilet for a pee just in case!

May even wash and polish the car today just to get rid of some of the road dirt getting embedded in there.

It was late when I was in the vicinity of Moffett area so apart from getting fuel in the area I did not venture in to the town, hope you had a nice event.

Yes, should have taken the Locost to Moffat. Went on the Sunday in the normal car ('er indoors is not a car nutter like me) and it was heaving. Never seen so many cars. Put it on the to do list for 2019.
