what paperwork for first registration?
mikeb - 30/4/18 at 12:17 PM

With a bit of luck, I could pass my IVA retest on Thursday.
I've had search but can't find details of the next step to get my reg number from the DVLA.

It will be a q plate as I don't have doner vehicle V5.

Any tips and links to completing the forms and getting it through DVLA ASAP
Shame I'll miss Stoneleigh but will be happy to get on the road.

Have read of the top sticky threading this section.
You'll need form v55/4 from DVLA. It's a multi copy form so not available to download online. That required accompanying paperwork is listed on the first page. Take a copy of your IVA cert as it won't be returned (everything else will be).

Hi thanks,

The sticky seemed really old so I didn't trust it.

Its says V55/5 for a q plate? doesn't mention a build up inspection report V627/1, is this needed?

I'll have another search to find the link for the forms. Good tip reg IVA cert.

Thanks

Mike

I've ordered v55/4 and v55/5 forms as you can't apply online hopefully it will come through quicker than 7-10 days! I thought the world had phased out cheques, I'm not sure I have a cheque book anymore, are there other ways to pay?

I went through mine last year for an age related plate (G) and I have listed everything I sent on my build blog.

Take a look here

Hi,
My build passed IVA in late January. I sent the following (for a Q plate):
V55/5
V627/1
IVA Certificate (took a copy first!)
Letter from DVLA with chassis number they allocated, stamped with verification from my local MOT centre as they requested.
Copy of photocard driving licence
Copy of insurance certificate - wasn't sure about this since the insurance cert did not have a registration number, only chassis number but it gave them the necessary info to check the insurance.
Cheque for first reg fee & 1 years tax
Photos of completed car - just in case.
Covering letter explaining that I was expecting a Q plate.

Might have been a bit overkill but it worked, took them 7 days to issue Q reg number.

You need to send the application to Kits & Rebuilds, SA99 1ZZ rather than whats on the V55

Also, take care with the V55, it has a carbon backing sheet - I screwed up and had to wait over a week for a new one being sent.

Hope the retest goes well.
