Great news - Not proceeding with emissions regulation proposals
andyace - 1/5/18 at 11:04 AM

Just been pointed to some great news (thanks Stu aka TheDuck) ... See Complete kit car magazine facebook page ...

"We've just received a call from the Department for Transport confirming that they will not proceed with the part of the emissions regulation proposals that affected kit cars. There were over 2000 responses to the consultation.

A Department for Transport spokesperson said:

“The UK’s specialist vehicle industry is thriving – it creates jobs and gives enjoyment to many, with products exported all over the world.

“We are grateful to the over 2000 kit and replica car enthusiasts, manufacturers and suppliers who took part in this consultation. Following their responses, we have decided that there will be no changes to the current MOT–style testing of kit car emissions.”"

I and others pushed this and informed Adam of Complete Kit car mag this was happening.
Complete kit car certainly raised the profile and the wide response from all sectors was listened to.
I am both happy and a little smug, let’s hope we have raised the profile of kit car building a little more

Yep, I recieved an email about this due to my response. Fantastic news for those still going through their build and everyone else who responded.

A number of clubs (including RHOCaR) submitted responses as well which, when you consider were backings of hundreds of people in one go, must have helped

Essex kitcar club submitted a club response and club members put in individual responses.
I think we have proved that it was worth doing and common sense prevailed.
I hope we are consulted going forward, I’m a firm believer in fair and reasonable discussion and negotiation. All good negotiations lead to some compromise and often just extending a time period can give both sides of the argument time to achieve both their aims.

Well done all. There were a no. of naysayers on the original post, at least one of whom seemed intent on derailing any efforts to combat this
I don't see how anyone can regard this as anything but a total result for the industry & proof of the strength in no.'s & what we can achieve if we act together!
