hi,
I came across this drawing with a coupling stuck in the end of a type 9, can anyone recognise it, reminds me a bit of a triumph one.
thanks.
It looks like the rubber coupling from an sierra MT75 propshaft to me.

Edit, sorry I meant the Guibo one.

ah... funny I've never even notice it before
cheers
This is the same coupling that came with my 1992 Sierra 1.8 CVH type 9 Gearbox.
I think this is the way ford went with the later type 9 Sierra
Yes the Triumph Mk2 Vitesse had similar couplings on the rear drive shafts, as did the later Triumph GT6.

Fitted to most BMW's also.
Was behind Fiat twinks as well.
My 1993 1.6 pinto donor had one behind the 'box as well.
They do have the occasional habit of letting go if alignment is not close to straight. Much safer to have hardy-spicer type universal joints.
Rotoflex coupling
These have no problem with aligment They were used on Triumphs (FWD 1300/1500 and late GT6) and Lotus Elans and Rootes Imps, many main land
european cars use them on the propshaft --- however when used on a propshaft they are subject to 3 to 4 times the RPM they get on a diff output shaft
which can cause them to break up if not in perfect condition.
Rootes used them on the Hillman Imp driveshafts. If you cannot line up the bolts when fitting, Jubilee clips joined together around the edge and then tighted let you get the bolt holes aligned
