Passed IVA

Passed the IVA retest yesterday with my haynes roadster.

Took me 4 years and a week from start to finish.

My first IVA was two weeks ago and I failed on an under reading speedo. 37mph at 35 going up to 74 at 70

The reason it was out was the mx5 engine and box are mated to a ford 7" diff and different ratio than what was in the mx5.

Found out there are 5 different speed sensors for the mx5, all different colours and different numbers of teeth.

I went down from 22 to 20 teeth so a 10% drop.

Retest was at 2pm and passed by 2:04pm

I found the testers at Chadderton to be really good. They were enthusiastic and were looking to pass me, not trying to fail me.

I had forgotten to fit rear reflectors and they offered me some out the cabinet as lots of people forget to fit them.

My first tester was full of compliments on the quality of the build and when he come out from underneath said it was excellent which made me confident.

Nice one!

Looks very nice and I think if the testers first impression is that it's a tidy build gives you a head start.

Feels great. I thought it would take me two years as I can only get on it at weekend nights really. But a house move 2 years ago buying our first house meant a massive dent to my kit car fund when my wife saw my secret savings account haha and helped empty it into wardrobes and sideboards.
