1.6L drums on a 2.0L?

I've taken my donor parts from a 1.6 sierra but have decided to fit a 2.0 instead. I've already fitted the 1.6's rear drums and can't really be bothered to change them, will they be sufficient for the bigger engine?

I would have thought they should be ok seeing as they usual stop a car weighing twice as much

It'll be fine, the rear brakes dont do that much anyway

Are they a different size? I'd be very suprised to find they were. It was only on the 'performance' models or the Cossie that the need was felt to put something a bit more substantial in, hence vented disks etc.

According to Mr. Haynes, the 1.8 & 2.0 have 9" drums as opposed to 8". I have a pair of driveshafts with 9" drums if anyone wants to give me a drink for them.

yeah the 1.8 and 2.0 do have bigger drums as i discovered recently. I bought a second sierra to use as my everyday car and when i was checking it over i found the drums were bigger and the whole rear mechanism is quite different to the 1.6
