High Temp Coatings
Benzo - 7/6/18 at 10:17 AM

Hi folks,

Are there any alternatives to Zircotec for High Temp Exhaust Coatings?

I was quoted approx. £750 to coat a single 4into1 turbo manifold.

But i've 2x manifolds, 2x downpipes & 2x turbo housings to coat so it isn't a runner cost wise.

What are my other options? just Wrap them? Any other sprays or Coatings I can apply myself?

Thanks!

I always get the impression zircotec aren't interested in smaller jobs as they always quote silly numbers.

Have you tried camcoat?

No I haven't seen that company before.

Has anyone any experience with Cerakote? I've just found I can have this done locally in N.I.

I've used camcoat and they are cheaper, but it's a different type of ceramic coating to zircotec.

Camcoat is a powder based coating, where as iirc zircotec is a plasma coating?

I will be using camcoat again once I'm happy with my manifold

I´ve never done it, but waater glass (Sodium silicate) is as its name implies, liquid, and may be applied by brush, some sort of clay powder filler may be used to provide a thicker coating.
It sets by CO2 in ambient.
More info in the web.
If you try it, let us know how it went.
