Steering Column support

Hi Everyone...

My column is in 3 pieces so I am using a rod end as a support for the lower link. Due to the size of the column I am using a 20mm rod end. The problem i can see is that although the column is a snug fit into the rod end, it is looser that the spherical bearing the in the rod end itself, so it is just acting as a support and not a bearing.

Im guessing having a metal on metal rubbing between the support and the column is going to cause wear at some point? Can anyone see any changes I can make?

Thanks,
Shaun

Can you fit a bush for the correct OD of the rod and the correct ID for the rod end joint?

(Possibly fit the next size up rod end to get enough room for a bush).

If you can't fit a tight fitting bush over the rod - can you fit a split bush.
