Escort Rack End Thread Sizes
BigDawgV8 - 15/7/15 at 08:43 PM

Hi All,

Another technical query for you peeps.

Do the Mk1 and Mk2 Escort steering racks share the same size track rod thread?
Basically, can you put Mk1 track rod ends on a Mk2 rack and vice versa?

Thanks for reading!

Could be wrong but I think the mk1 had UNF threads and the mk2 used Metric?

MK2 Escort rack was M14x2

Ford standardised the same track rod end on the 1970 on the Cortina, Granadad and Fiesta.
The Sierra uses the same thread but an offset design

Mk3 Escort reverted to 1/2" UNF

Thanks for all the replies!

While I'm on here, are the splined input shafts the same?

Thanks again!
