Foose Design Jaguar E-Type Roadster
David Jenkins - 10/11/19 at 01:58 PM

When I first read that Chip Foose was going to work on an E-type Jaguar I was a bit anxious... but, actually, I think it looks pretty good. I dread to think how much the wheels cost...

I think there will be a wide range of opinions!

They make a lot of fuss about the wheels.... and I think they're the worst part of it. I appreciate the engineering that must have gone into them to make them look like wire wheels, but for me they're just too big and too low profile on the tyres. If they had made them a few inches smaller they would have suited the car much better.

Imho that is AWFULL,

how to devalue an e-type in one whole video

David Jenkins - 10/11/19 at 03:15 PM

Hehe... I thought it would polarise opinion!

i like the grille, the rest looks too low and too long, them wheels are way too bling

Not fussed about Es anymore, had 3 and been disappointed, each time thinking it will be better than the last one......

He’s definitely improved the look of that S3, some S1 hues, but after all it was federalisation that ruined the looks of the series 1, when the series 2 was released to meet their standards....

Like the interior and the colour of the car

But the rest of it is too 'Americanised' for me, especially the front grill and wheels

Nowt wrong with the original version imho

Not nearly as much as they've wiped off the value of the car...

You think it'll be worth less with the Foose name on it ?

femster87 - 10/11/19 at 05:58 PM

they can do anything they want with it. Its still a box of steel.

Compared to a concours original S1, I suspect it would.

I used to like BIG wheels, but not anymore.
I just think they make look a car cartoonish...

I think it will be worth less with those wheels on it.

Edited to add: I see that they've also narrowed the suspension, both front and rear, which will mean that the geometry is less favourable than standard (and those ultra-low profile tyres will be much less tolerant of camber changes).

So not only have they made it look worse, they've also probably managed to make it handle worse.

It's a bit carlos fandango imho.

I love so much of what they have done...but the overall effect doesn’t quite work for me.

Loves: the front, the BONNET (not hood!), the rear, the interior, the screen rake (always looks too upright on later models)

Hates: The wheels - too big too wide. The proportions.....something in what he has done has made it look too long and low which ruins the balance of the design - I thought it was the aspect of the video at first but when he started talking about the sill modifications I saw it wasn’t.... I think it’s the combination of the sills and moving the back of the cockpit forward...

I prefer the Eagle E type overall!

Looks like James Bond has given up working for Mi5 and has started pimping.

rdodger - 11/11/19 at 04:15 PM

I think it looks terrible!

If you want to reimagine an Etype go to Eagle.

Good call, Eagle looks better.
I don’t like the Foose grill and wheel treatment, like all Americans he’s gone just that little bit to shouty

nick205 - 12/11/19 at 04:41 PM

Having been around E-Types all my life (my dad has a burning passion and has restored several) I know them inside out. The Foose interpreation doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid and I dislike the wheels on it rather a lot. The wheels are simply too large with tyres too low profile.

Personall I find the Eagle interpretation more pleasing - pricey to acquire one though!
