Need to buy a tent soon as I intend to camp this year at the shows.

Any advice/recommendations ?

I have a £30 pound jobby small 2 man from millets. me and mrs used it in scotland and camped at cadwell in november. I have had it at least 10 yrs and they still sell the same type

bought my palace from costco for approx £100.

Done 4 le mans trips and various other events in it without drama.

quite big but worth it for the space...

CCC in Sheffield have a good range at good prices too, whatever you do get one of the easy up fibireglass thready pole thingy type.

quecha still the best I've had ( and I have a khyam and a wild country). I marshal the british super bike/moto GP and last year spent 2 days in a monsoon/puddle in mondelo park ireland (Dry as a bone inside and 2 seconds to erect mean's if its raining you can through it up without getting soaked! )

That Quocha 2nd tent was on TV today, they were saying how amazing it was compared to tents 4-5 * the price......
Might be bogus but it was Nick Knowles off DIY SOS who had done some kind of side-by-side comparison of tents for some reason....
And it wasn't the shopping channel

I used to be in the tent game. The Decathlon tents do seem to be well made. Always check on seams and the type of material they've used. I've not tried one so can't say how well they perform though.

They do indeed, but have changed their name to "Go". A couple in Sheffield and one in Hathersage too.

We have had one of the Decathlon quencha tents for a couple of years, only used it as a sailing bag store / rain retreat on the beach when sailing.
I have been very impressed with it, particularly when the wind picks up, the pegs being the limit in sand, but should be no problem in soil.
It goes up as quick as they claim, putting it away can be amusing until you remember the technique, especially if you don't do it frequently.
The zip on the carrier case has failed due to being stored in a damp environment but the rest is fine.
A potential downside is its shape for transporting, its a large round disc, but has shoulder straps - you feel a bit like a turtle carrying it

Camping Centre in Huthwaite, Notts usually has some decent stuff in at a good prices. 9, Market Street not far from us and I've had jackets and boots from there as well at good prices.

kyham tents get my vote every time, dead easy to erect. 3 man dome i can put up on my own in less than 5 minutes.

Poles are built into the tent as is the inner tent ( they will all come apert for cleaning etc) so no chasing the inner or fly sheet in the wind, and outitng it up in the rain means the inner doesnt get wet either.

mines 10 yrs old and has NEVER leaked and has stood up to some pretty bad winds too.

A second hand one is well within budget, have a look on ebay, here

Thoroughly reccommend them, not the smallest when its packed away and not a hiking tent as its fairly heavy but for practicality and robustness you cant go wrong.

I have a Khyam 4 man Ultradome which I'm considering upgrading to something a bit newer if anyones interested.....
