1300 crossflow

Quick question - where does everyone go for crossflow bits these days ? I just had a quick search on ebay , and theres sod all there...........
I'm in need of some new oversize pistons as the engine I have just stripped is showing some serious wear.......enough of a step at the top of the bores to ping a finger nail off.......

PS - no , I am not looking for a Zetec , or any kind of upgrade.....its not for my car !

Try your local engine machine shop or Burtonpower

I believe the 1300 and 1600 share the same bore, longer throw crank on the 1600, not sure if the gudgeon pin is in the same place though. If they are it may help widen your options.
You can blame all those Locost racers for hoovering up the 1300 bits, used to be loads about and dirt cheap to, as the Escort chaps wanted 1600's then some guy called Ron Champion wrote a book.

The 1600 tuners fitted 1300 pistons to up the CR.

I believe you can do the same with 1100 pistons.

Think we've got a used set of plus .090's in our big pile of cross flow bits. They've done a couple of race seasons but would do another turn I expect. You'd need to re ring them.

We built a complete new engine for last season. Block, pistons, crank etc.

I thought of building it up as a spare bottom end but the race car is now sold and the new car is having zetec power so didn't bother.

I can dig them out if you like. They give around 1380cc (ish)

We got all the bits for the new engine from Ivan at procomp.

How much would you be wanting for those used +90's ? I need to check on the cost of getting the block bored - this was intended to be a quick check over , pop in some unleaded seats and drop it into the car after a coat of paint......
Its going in a Jester thats been off the road for some time due to major over heating issues , and needs to be as lo cost as possible !

I'll ask Steve who owned the car what he wants for them.

We found a +090 re bore from standard would normally take two or three passes with the boring bar so would tend to be a bit more expensive.

Steve says £75. Any good?
