Fitting a quick rack to an MK Indy
Having had 3 7 type kits over the years I have always thought the steering seems a bit slow, does fitting a quick rack make a significant difference ?
and is it worth doing or does it make them twitchy at speed.

You just need to be careful with your steering input at speed!
Makes them more like a go-kart

Yes, definitely worth it.
I think the Caterham is 2.2 turns lock to lock, though all things are relative the turning circle is less than the indy on full lock.
That said, on the road I'll never need to take my hands off the wheel road driving, this includes going T junctions etc.

I put one in mine during the winter and drove it for the first time earlier in the week.
Sooooo much better! Dead easy to fit too. The best money you will spend on your car.

Thanks for the replies guy's, so the next question is which one do I want and were is the best place / cheapest place to get one?, I missed one
advertised the other day for £100 but I have no idea if that is reasonable or not.
Is it a case of getting the rack and fitting or are there any other mods that need to be done/

Just buy one from MK. Ready shortened and ready to fit. Just remove the extensions and track rod ends, put on the quick rack and fit it. Job jobbed!

I don't know how yours are but my extensions were seized onto the old rack. They were a real t*at to get off. I took off the old rack, clamped
the tie rod in the vice and added heat. Lots of it! Ran a tap down the centre of the extension and it was good as new.
Hopefully yours will be easier than mine!

I built mine with a 2.9 rack. Changed to a 2.4 a couple of years later and it's far better.
