Sierra Driveshafts

Hi all, trying to reignite my interest in my project and I am starting to focus on getting my 3.38 diff and push in shafts rebuilt.

The diff rebuild is in hand so now I am on to the shafts. Does anyone know if there is a rebuild kit available for sierra driveshafts? Ideally looking for inner and outer metal canisters and cv boots for both shafts. I've been googling and discovered there are two sizes of canister 70mm and 77mm, mine are the 77mm ones, but I cant find a ford part number or anybody that stocks the parts I need.

Thanks for any help!

The canisters are like rocking horse poo now. I needed some a year ago and couldn't find anyone to stock them, so ended up having to tiger seal the existing one... Think the only way was to buy complete driveshafts.

Some years ago now I was able to source rebuild kits (including metal canisters) from my local Ford dealer. IIRC they weren't that expensive either. May well be worth speaking to a Ford dealer parts counter to see what they can supply.

It wasn't easy trying to peen the ends of the metal canisters closed over the ends of the joints, but patience and a vice helped.

Some photos in my archive of the overhauled driveshafts for you to look at.

Buton Power do Ford parts and may be worth a call.

tried to replace my canisters and gave up, concluded that I need to change the diff and drive shafts when I can afford to, the other option may be to change the diff receptacles,.

Thanks guys, I feared that was going to be the answer!

I've found someone on ebay selling brand new driveshafts, albeit not original ford ones so I may need to look into this further.

Thanks for the help.
