Another "which tyre" question ?

Due to having standard front wings on my Anglia 105e and needing 14" wheels to clear the xr4x4 brakes I have, what are the best tyres for a 750kg/150hp car for road use (and occasional track duty) ?

I know 185/60/14's don't fit but suspect 185/50/14 and 195/45/14's will - relative diameters are -

185/60/14 = 577mm - does not fit
185/50/14 = 540mm - so additional clearance of 18mm at front, should be OK
195/45/14 = 531mm - so additional clearance of 23mm at front, definitely be OK

I have both 14x5.5 and 14x6 wheels so both should be OK with the above and have checked the offsets are fine.

Available tyres that i can find -

185/50 - Yoko A539, Falken ZE912, Maxxis MAZ1, Toyo CF1
195/45 - Yoko A539, Falken ZE912, Uniroyal Rainsport 2, Toyo T1-R

My inclination is to go for the A539's in 185/50/14 (assuming my final check confirms it will fit) - any comments, thoughts or alternatives, all views welcome.

Thanks

Have to say rainsport 2 are impressive. On a track day felt that a 1.5t GT4 was probally a bit too heavy, but gave impressive peformance. Sidewalls just coul be stiffer, however with half the weight i think you will be fine.

In the wet BRILLIANT!, as the name implies, feels almost like the grip is better in the wet!

CF1's are good but you need to be real hooligan on the road to get them properly hot
I've only felt that extra grip once and I seriously thought " that was to much for the road"

Thanks for the views guys, much appreciated. Interesting, the rainsport get pretty good reviews but I thought the a539 were one if the favourites for light cars, they arequitean olddesign, has tyre technology come on much in the last ten years?
