M16 caliper dust boot retaining clips

Is there any special technique to fitting them other than a large amount of swearing? One of mine is loose and I can't see an easy way of getting it on.

It should go in the slot around the boot.

I did all 4 of these bloody things on Sunday so I know how you feel. There was quite a large amount of swearing involved

Just make sure the rubbers and mounting surface is grease-free so that the boot and metal clip doesn't slip off so readily. I started from one end of the metal clip and went round gradually to the other end, opening the spring-clip up as I went and trying to hold the it all in place as I went. You ideally need another pair of hands to hold it all in place as you're going round.

Would help if there was a grove in the calliper for the outer rubber and spring clip to sit in.

Thanks, only swearing under my breath was needed in the end. Painkillers from my surgery mellowed me somewhat
