DVLA messing me about?
prawnabie - 14/4/15 at 09:00 PM

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone had contact details for anyone who can help me at the DVLA with an issue i have registering my seven?

They received my application on the 20th of last month, I had no repsonse within the 2 weeks they quoted and by the 10th day they hadn't even taken the money out of the bank. The 10th day was good friday so I waited until the following tuesday and gave them a call, only for them to blame it on easter and to give them a call in another week, although they did tell me after I gave them the tracking number that they HAD received the application but there had been no progress on it though.

I left it until the thursday (last thursday) and decided I wasn't really happy with this as they had had now had 12 working days get it sorted and the money still hadn't been taking out of the bank so I called them again. This time I spoke to a guy who said he was going to open a "case" and took my contact number (even though this was all over the application and my covering letter) and said someone would called me back before the friday (last friday). As of this morning I hadn't received any contact from them and the money was STILL sitting in the bank! so I called them again...

This time I was told by a lady that the case was still open, but there was still not progress and then hadn't got a contact number to called me on, which is why I hadn't received the phone call I was promised last thursday........

I explained that I had given them my details on thursday, and repeated them today, the case was then updated and I was again promised another phone call.

I know this process can take a number of weeks, but the fact that the money is still in the bank, there has been no "progress" on the application after 3-4 weeks and the fact that they hadn't gotten any contact details makes me worry that they have lost the application!

Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated!

Shaun

Try emailing as well - I got a reply from the 'case worker' complete with their direct email and telephone number - made life a lot easier!

I've been battling with the DVLA for the past 10 weeks just to get a V5 for my bike! It wasn't until today, when I asked for all the transcripts of my telecons that they finally decided that they had 'just found' all the paperwork that I'd sent them!

7 weeks from submitting application online to DVSA to getting an email telling me the application is ready for test. Got that email monday, still no call to book test date and was told today I had to "wait for them to call me"!!!

I have just taxed the MK with the V5 with the ZX9R engine, now I will send the V5 back to change over to the Jag engine.
It's not that I don't trust DVSA to not screw it up

Make a formal written complaint to Oliver Morley the DVLA chief executive.
If unsatisfied with his response then you have the option to have you're case referred to the independent complaints assessor. This is a person employed by the department for transport, with a department for transport email and postal address so I will leave you to decide just how interdependent this person really is.
If you are still not satisfied to can take your case to the Parliamentry Ombudsman.
If we dont complain about bad service then things will never improve.
Good luck.

I had a similar experience and I just kept phoning them until I think that they decided that it was easier to find it and process it than keep taking my calls. I think that one of the problems is that they get assigned to individuals and if that person is away (e.g. for Easter) then it just sits in their in-tray and nobody else knows where it is as they don't seem to have an internal document tracking system.

At least, when they did eventually process mine, they added an extra months tax to the tax disc that they sent me.

I wrote a letter to the Chief Exec when they lost my paperwork. The letter was emailed to the address on the website - my paperwork was 'found' within 4 hours of me sending the email.

Just keep nagging them OP. Same with me, complained, a case was opened, nothing, nag some more, nothing, nag some more, then suddenly it just appeared.

Just a quick update!

I looks like my drivers license has been seperated from my application and returned to me as I had it back with a application for drivers license form - this was the day after I had a letter asking for 2 forms of ID as I hadn't sent any ?!?!?!

Luckily the letter had a direct phone number on but all I got was an embarrassed laugh when I told them.

They now have 2 MORE forms of ID so hopefully the caseworker will be sorting it out this week. If I can't get it in time for Stoneleigh I might be the first ever person to ram raid the DVLA offices in a seven!
