Adjustable seats
DaveFJ - 16/5/03 at 12:04 PM

currently planning a Tiger Avon build....

What are my chances of being able to fit adjustable seats that will allow myself (6'3" and my wife (5'3" to drive ?

thought about upgrading the wife to fit car but as I have only been married 3 weeks thought it was probably not the right option.....

you will be able to put the seats onto runners, but with the avon choice of srats is very limited...(let the wife drive???)

I have to admit she's better/faster than me.......

And I'm not known as a slouch.....

lets just say she drives like a bloke!!!

i used the runners from my granada donor.

bear in mind any mountings, and the runners themselves, will push your seat height up an inch or two.

The runners (along with the seats if you're up for re-covering) from a Bedford Rascal van are certainly usable. That's probably what I'll go for.

Cheers,

James

Ah but will they fit an Avon with its out of square transmission tunnel?

When I went to see Tiger at their Plumstead site I thought the Avon a little short on leg room. Someone from Tiger did mention the Avon would be tight for someone 6ft and over due to the cockpit length being shorter than some over LSIS. Might be worth checking before buying???

I intend to use Metro seat runners/adjusters. Very low profile and easy to fit both to car and seat. Just need to cut a piece out of the handle and sleeve with a piece of appropriate tube to reduce width.

I used the basic seat runners from Merlin. £25 ish and they are fine.

I hacked a set of Metro runners up for my drivers seat and fitted MK fglass seats to them. They do raise the seat higher than the passenger seat but if you want symmetry pack the other side a bit.

yours, Pete.

Europa sell low profile runners that only raise the seat a couple of centimetres, don't know the reach of them though.

I was going to use the runners off a set of bedford rascal van seats onto my Cobra 7's but they made them too high.
Dont forget there is a minimum height from the seat to the upper seatbelt anchorge. I'll fix the seat for the SVA and put the runners in later
