Brake flare Tool?
the_big_1 - 9/8/19 at 08:57 AM

hi Guys,

what brake flare tool would you recommend for the kunifer 3/16 brake pipe.
I bought one for about £50, used it a couple of times and the die broke and they don't do replacements :-(

Hi - Whereabouts in Warwickshire are you? I'm in Rugby.

I bought a an expensive Sykes Pickavant one when I did mine a few years ago (about £200 from memory).

You're welcome to borrow it if you like?

Cheers
Tony

Yeah no worries, I'll try and find it in the garage tonight.

Will ping you a U2U when I do find it to arrange getting it to you.

Cheers

I know you have the loan of one now but I originally bought one from Machine Mart. Did my Locost with it and also pipes for two Skoda Estelle trials cars and odd ones for my JC Midge and never had any problems. It definately wasnt £200!!!

Hi ya,

Which one did you use?

myke pocock - 9/8/19 at 08:17 PM

Must be at least fifteen years ago that I bought it but it was the cheapest they sold.

I got a cheap eBay one which did the job fine with a bit of practice.

old sykes picavant ones come up on ebay now and then too

I mostly use one like this:

although mine didn't come from ebay, its been in the family for at least 50 years and still going strong

I'm in Burbage and asked a question about this about a year ago. Got one for about 20 quid and it seems to work ok. Welcome to pop round in a couple of weeks and compare flares
