OT Ryobi petrol multi tool.
roadrunner - 4/1/20 at 04:03 PM

I got this Ryobi multi tool last year and up to now it's been great.
Now I want to really use it, it's started playing up.
It starts a treat and ticks over fine but as soon as I open up the throttle it starts to dye.
I've had the plug out and cleaned it, also stripped down the carb and blasted it with carb cleaner .
There are no adjustments on the carb except for the idle.
But the bloody thing still won't run.
Anyone any ideas.
Thanks in advance

Brad.

Has it got an air filter fitted to it, if so try taking it out and running /revving it without it, I've got a petrol strimmer with a foam type filter which gets gummed up and causes the symptoms you describe

Already tried that.
I've got 2 things to try out. The high speed needle has no slot for adjustment but can apparently be turned.
The other is to remove the spark arrestor.

Also find with mine (Titan from screwfix) if I leave it to run for a few minutes on tickover the hesitancy when I rev it isn't too bad

I'll try it.

Thanks

Maybe a daft question but are you using fresh (from the petrol station) fuel? When cold this can make a huge difference.

Yes.
