Sierra 7" LSD change
Gripenland - 28/4/04 at 08:57 PM

Hey

I have an open sierra 7" diff (3.14) with push in drive shafts. I've been offered a LSD unit from a 7" diff with standard CV joints (no push in drive shafts). Will it fit?

Any help on this subject would be much appreciated

Some one must know? No?

I believe this has been done, I'm sure I've seen people talk about it on here.

Dont have any details myslef I'm afraid.
Try a search for it, might be quite difficult to find though, the search functionality is pretty basic unfortunately.

Good luck.

you can use this, but if you want to stick with the drums you'll need to strip the lsd out of one dif and put it into the other.

other you need to change the rear end of hte car to discs if you want to use the lobro type joints + bolt on driveshafts. this was discussed quite recently ...

Ned.

I'm building a Hayabusa BEC so a 3.14 and 13" wheels will be just right, I think

I saw a commment on how to do this recently (think it was on the sevens list). Someone then commented that you have to be careful how much engagement the driveshaft spline has with the diff. Think it was something to do with if you do it one way round you only get 1/2 the intended engagement. Now I wouldn't worry too much as this wisdom came third hand and originally from someone who makes a living putting LSD's into seirra diffs - just check it before you use it.
