13" x 8" alloys on a fury?

I am thinking of uping the size of the wheels on the back of my fury. I am currently running 13x6 RS alloys on each corer with 185 rubber front and 205 rubber on the rear but wondered if the grip will improve with wider wheels on the back?

The engine is a Fireblade 919, so I am a bit concerned about the extra weight.

Any comments welcome :-)

This Fury has 10 inch wide revs on the back.

Not the same, I know, but gives you an idea.

He has a 1400cc Mistral Hayabusa and reckoned the 10s calmed the back end down from when he ran the 8s.
Car also has a Quaife ATB freelander diff.

Will they fit under the bodywork?

If not you may need to raise the ride-height, or trim the arches and fit those little arch extensions.

Those little arch extensions are actually added on to Fisher wide arches which are already moulded into the bodywork. So, it's an extra extra wide car.
It also sits much lower than a roadgoing car.
My contributions to this thread are becoming less relevant all the time.

Wrong wheel size.
Wrong ride height.
But, at least it's still a fury.

Surely 205 tyres would be more than enough for a stock blade engine. You should probable be running 7J rear wheels and maybe 215 but going to 225 or 235 is complete overkill for the power (and more importantly the torque) of the engine.

I take it this is a IRS car?

Tend to agree with Jeff. I'm running 13"x7j rims with R888 205/60/13 on the back with my R1. No shortage of grip. What tyres are you using?

Your comments are as I was thinking, overkill for the power. I have Yokohama A048's currently and am quite happy with them, I will need to change them next year though. I looked at R888 but am a bit concerned about their legality now.

R888 are perfectly legal. There is new regulations proposed but not in force yet. If it does come in then it will apply to the sale of tyres and not tyres already on cars.
