Need BEC engine parts and don't have a reg number

Hello people.

I have a CBR1000 engine that I bought from a bloke in Scotland called Colin who used to frequent this forum, are you still here Colin?

Anyway, I have the engine number and need to buy a cam chain tensioner for it. However, the guys in the Honda garage can only find parts if I know the year of the bike that it came from, or chassis number.

As I don't have the chassis from the bike I'm a bit snookered. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm guessing it was Colin "Colibriman". He's not been here for years, I think he went to prison for selling a load of stolen Honda engines. JUST JOKING

The workshop (Haynes type) will often give you the year by the engine number range
Give us a bit more of a clue ( some of the engine number) someone here will probably be able to help

I've got a few links on my laptop I will post you later today, iPhone at the moment.

I'm using a Blackbird, but my links may also help you out with your cbr.

The engine number Will provide sufficient age related information to buy your timing chain, frame number isn't needed.

Thanks guys, that's come up trumps.

Why I didn't just come on here in the first place instead of struggling. That'll teach me.
