Haynes Roadster 2.0l For Sale

[/URL]

This is my Haynes Roadster kit car for sale. The spec is:

The donor was a Ford Sierra, donating its:
Type 9 gearbox,
3.92 Differential,
dash clocks,
wiring loom,
wheel hubs
brakes (discs front and drums on the IRS independent rear suspension).
Bodywork is part fibreglass and the rest are aluminium panels.
Wheels are magnesium alloy off a Sierra Cosworth rally car, complete with stud inserts and threaded valves. Tyres are Toyo Proxies T1-R with loads of tread left.

On the interior Seats are fibreglass with Sabelt 4 point harnesses. The drivers seat is on sliders but the passenger seat is fixed. The gearlever is on a quickshift and the steering wheel is a OMP.

The alternator is a lightweight denso unit to save some weight, same as the lightweight Odyssey battery. Rear lights are LED units.

Fuel tank is aluminium and made by Alloy Fabrications.

New escort 2.9 Quick steering rack

The engine is a 16v DOHC 2.0 out of a 1992 Ford Escort RS2000. The fuelling is by a set of Kawasaki ZX6R motorbike carburettors with Pipercross sausage filter. Ignition is by a MegaJolt electronic ignition. Exhaust is a 4-1 stainless manifold (heat wrapped) and onto a Yamaha R1 can. The engine has a modified sump off a RWD Sierra 2.0 DOHC. To secure against any oil surge a oil pressure gauge and a Accusump system is fitted. To keep the system cool it has a Mocal oil cooler in front of the radiator.

The car has a Innovate LC1 wideband lambda and gauge that was fitted for tuning. The age of the engine makes the vehicle exempt from the stricter emissions tests on the MOT that normally requires fuel injection and a catalytic convertor. This is on the V5C (CO 3.5% and HC 1200 ppm). So if you ever change the engine you get loads more flexibility on emissions.

I bought the car 4 months ago, I have decided kit car ownership is just not for me, I like to take my car on track around the country and don't have the luxury of a trailer I have to drive it to each event, without a roof or windscreen this is not ideal!

Since buying the car, I have stripped and rebuilt the carbs, its had a new fuel pump and new plugs and I had the car on the dyne at EFI parts in runcorn. The car made 155bhp at 6400rpm, but a common upgrade RS2000 boys do is raise the rev limit to 7k which I had planned to do and should see 160bhp as power was still climbing at the 6400rpm limiter. The limit is easily changed with the megajolt. The fuelling was confirmed good and the ignition map tweaked on the dyno, so the car is running well and makes excellent use of the power, it feels very quick!

Ive had the cars suspension and geometry set up by a mate who races in the max5 series and the car handles great, but surprisingly is very compliant and no where near as jarring as I thought it would be.

I had the car on track at 3 sisters in wigan last month and it was brilliant, very quick, loads of fun and drove there and back no problem at all.

There car had covered 2000 miles since it was built before my ownership so I would guess total mileage since build to be around 2800

The car is located in Liverpool but i work in Preston/Blackpool so can show the car there too.

I will accept an Mx5 as part ex and Im looking for a turbo car ideally but will consider anything

£4500

Its surprisingly ok I think. Cant imagine 6ft 2 being that much of a problem. Length of cabin is actually quite big, but obviously it would be a good idea to try it.
