Towing a 7 with an A frame
Not your usual 'is it legal' question, as I know it's not! What I'm wondering is how well it works with a car that
doesn't self centre? On my car, if you turn the wheels halfway to lock, the steering doesn't self centre, it tries to turn itself to full
lock. Probably due to too little castor, but would this stop an a frame working properly? I need to possibly pull it 200 miles next week.

watch out as the diff dosent like to be pulled years ago when i had a dolly i always put the drive wheels on the dolly

Saw one being towed to Stoneleigh this year on an a-frame, can really comment on the self centring part tho.

I towed a fwd rally car that had the same issues. It followed fine until the first sharp corner! Then the front wheels spun onto full lock and dragged
the tyres sideways!

There are some contraptions used to block the steering by hooking it over to the peddles. If something like this is used, can't the 7 be towed
even if it doesn't self-centre? For all purposes, the steering lock would keep the front wheels straight, no? And would that damage any part of
the car?

What about raising the tyre pressure on the front wheels. just while towing
As this cheat method seems to help some builders with getting through the testing phase
Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

It's as I expected then, I'll cross the A frame off the list!
It really is quite poor handling if I'm honest. Dreadful bump steer and anti self centering. Think a visit to procomp is on the cards.

I'm off for another tour of Islay and the kit is coming! Was thinking of towing it up past Glasgow to avoid the motorway. 6.5 hours in a 7 is a
bit much even for a stubborn bastard like me!

Very kind wellyboot! I'm going to chance it anyway, if it breaks I can always chuck it into a field and get a lift with a mate! Managed to get
as far as Halifax today with nothing falling off so maybe I'll make it all the way!
We're doing 6 distilleries in 2 days!

I did all the ones on the coast in my boat..........not recommended! I think there were eight but I lost count after the first couple!!

I used to tow my 7 with my Audi with an A frame tow bar. I attached the bar to the upper suspension pickup points and had no trouble at all. I had
some magnetic lights for brakes etc, wired to the Audi. Just remember to put the 7 in neutral before you pull away... had to be said.

Incidentally, I have an A-frame that you can borrow....for recovery to a safe place only. I think there's a safe place in Bowmore.
