steering wrong direction

Hi

I am using granada front hubs, the steering arm on granda used to face backwards, and my build now faces forward. this will cause the wheels to turn left when I turn steering wheek right.
How do we change direction of the steering rack ?

You cant.... unless you have access to gear making equipment. Or want to make up a mini gearbox (only need 2 gears, though I am not sure if anyone has tried it!)

You need to find a rack from a front steer car. Ie a Mk2 escort or a sierra....

Why are you using Grandad hubs anyway? Why not use the standard Sierra?

Just a thought I'm not sure though Anyone confirm or tell me to not be so stupid.

Just another thought....by turning the uprights upside down you will seriously screw up their geometry!!

If you've turned your hubs around, won't that affect the ackerman geometry, arms pointing in (relativerly) when the should be pointing out IIRC.

What car did you take the steering rack from ????????????????????????????????????????

70s Grandad steering arms face forwards as do Cortina -- it was built on a Cortina floor pan.
80s & 90s Granada Scorpio steering arms also face forwards as do Sierra --- it was built on a Sierra floorpan.

I didn't mean to turn the hubs or the uprights I just meant to get a lhd rack and turn it . The pinion would change from top to bottom or v/versa therby changing the direction of movement required. It would also bring the pinion over to the rhd side of the car. You would only have to turn the balljoints of the track rod ends to suit the upright. Or am I talking total pish.

Yeah we meant what he has done to the uprights. Turning uprights upside down isnt a clever idea!!

Turning the rack over wont make any difference to anything really.

If they are indeed Grandad uprights, then the steering arm should have faced the front on the donor anyway! As BT says....

Try it on your car and drive around a little

It will be akward but you'll get used to it after a while
