I was planning to build the chassis at work over the easter break. Only issue I had with this is that it felt like I was heading for a busmans holiday as i do a fair bit of welding anyway.
So yesterday I visited GBS and long story short placed a deposit on a zero GT kit.
Does this mean I will now be sent to coventry , hope not as there is a wealth of experience on here I would still love to tap in to.
To make up for my sin in some small way here is some car porn. This is the new front end upgrade available and yes I did opt for it.

Very bling.

There are very few people left on here with the time to do a full scratch build.

Is just a sign of the times.

I hope to get over to one of the coffee mornings myself this year.

One thing about Gbs, the do try and grow the product.

Every day may be 24 hours, but these days work is taking up 2 to 4 more hours than it used to.

Assuming the top joint is for location and not load bearing, of day the rose joints are in the correct orientation.

What am I missing?

I agree it looks correct to me. How is it any different to a tapered ball joint going into the top of a Sierra upright for example ?

It's not so much about the time, it's the welding.
Part of my job is to make these


Once the tops and feet are on it runs to around 130 welds per base.

Add in the hood (blue bit on top) which I also weld ..........


and that adds up to plenty of practice.
Building the chassis just seems to me like work rather than fun hence my decision to buy rather than build.
Yes I could build it and yes I have the time to build it but I just want to spend my free time doing more enjoyable stuff rather than duplicating what I do a fair bit of for a living.

Since every OEM on the planet is fine with single shear for ball joints and tierod ends, it's good enough for me...

How much was the bling front and rear if you don't mind me asking?

As the GBS chassis is a self confessed parallelogram, it would be useful to have some decent geometry adjustment to correct it! lol

I only went for complete front inc brakes and just wishbones at rear. You can buy as much or as little as you want.

I am surprised, it looks well made and with all the laser cut parts you would at least expect it to be all squar.

I was also surprised when I was informed. Its also doubled as a selling point for some rear adjustment parts later down the line when I enquired haha. It comes down to the jigging when welding. Apparently it is (or was) very poor. To me, this brake/hub kit looks to have a lot of adjustment available. Part of me thinks this is more a plaster to cover other issues in the manufacturing process but I am talking 5-ish years since I was run through it (but only around 18 months ago the chassis jigging came up.
