DVLA - should i be afraid
davidimurray - 20/11/13 at 10:31 PM

Passed my IVA on the 6th of November and straight afterwards went down to the Cardiff DVLA office and handed over all the forms, donor v5, receipts etc.

As of today my cheques have not been cashed so rang them this morning. Some rubbish about not being able to get hold of the dept and because it was submitted to local office can take a few days to reach them so wait until Monday. Having been fobbed off so decided to email them as well. The response I had was -

"Due to the volume of mail received at DVLA Swansea, it is not possible for us to confirm receipt of an application unless it has been sent by recorded or special delivery. If this method of posting was used, please obtain the reference number from the receipt and confirm that the application has reached us by using the website www.postoffice.co.uk

If this method of posting was not used then it seems as though the application has not reached us as it would be pending at 72 hours and you would receive a response within 10 working days."

So what do we reckon looks like they have managed to lose my application! A few phonecalls tomorrow I think.

It's only 10 working days now and thats from your delivery to the local office, not accounting for delivery from there to Swansea.

DVLA lost mine after it was sent to them from a local office, it'll get there you've just been given the usual shit.

Just got off the phone to them - apparently my application was with them all along, but they are not sure where it is and that I should give it another 10 days before contacting them.....

Given that most if not all of the local offices are in the process of closing, I think things are in a bit of a state of flux.

That said, because my local office has just closed I sent the relevant forms directly to Swansea at a simlar time to yourself and got my v5 and tax disk through the post yesterday. No build up inspection or check performed but sure I read this fuction would be performed by the VOSa going forward - same time as the IVA, who knows? But probably not if Civil Servants are involved!!!
