My MEV TR1KE for sale :-(
The Venom Project - 17/10/14 at 09:58 AM

I have changed jobs, and now don't have the time or money to use my TR1KE anymore, its currently on eBay if anyone is interested in owning something truly bonkers

MEV TR1KE R1 powered 147BHP built by myself in 2011, registered in Feb 2012

Reserve is sensible based on the build price and miles on the engine.

That looks stunning and good luck with the sale but I have a question for you.

How do you manage to get a hydraulic handbrake through the MOT?

The Venom Project - 17/10/14 at 11:59 AM

Easy, as long as the handbrake can be locked and unlocked with one hand, its a pass, the guy who passed an MOT on my Boom trike back in 2004 said it makes no difference whether its a cable or hydraulic system, if its hydraulic it needs to be on an isolated setup, mine is, its got its own master cylinder and so is as reliable if not more so, and has much much more pressure onto the disk unlike the SVA approved crap cable ones.

This was the first mod I made after MSVA, Unfortunately, you can't convince the test centres for IVA or MSVA of this, they are trapped in the 1970's with ideas.

Any test centre doing tests on trikes whether Boom, Rewaco standard layout, or TR1KE, Grinnal, Razor etc will all be happy to pass a handbrake as long as its safe, works and can be locked and unlocked by one hand.

How do you have an isolated hydraulic setup, do you have a separate caliper for the handbrake?

The Venom Project - 17/10/14 at 12:32 PM

Yes,

The whole system is isolated from the rest of the brakes.

Hydraulic handbrake connected direct to Honda CBR1000RR rear caliper, so I have 2 x calipers on the back wheel

That makes sense then
